THE SWINGING SCENE as observed in suburbia is in ninety-nine percent of the cases nothing but a sham. The problem is that as old rules and regulations are dispersed to the far winds with nothing to replace them, people are beginning to search desperately for something to replace them.

Selflessness and the ability to give are as important in sex as they are in life. Unfortunately, many women still take to bed with them the old attitude that they are doing their mates a favor just by letting them have their way. They still harbor the old notion that it is more than enough that a man should be allowed to touch their nudity, let alone penetrate them.

The woman, after all, must really want to satisfy her mate, and to be satisfied herself. A halfhearted, I don’t care approach to sex never did anyone any good. In fact, the consequences of such encounters are usually somewhat pathetic. A woman must be willing to put everything she has got into the sex act and do everything in her power to encourage the man to do the same thing. If both the man and the woman feel that they are doing all they can to make their sexual relationship as pleasurable for one another as is possible, they will both be spurred on to newer efforts.

It is not in any few cases that a married couple find themselves strangers in their own home, in their own bedroom after a few months, possibly only after a few weeks of married life. What they had looked forward to, through their rose-colored glasses sometimes can turn out to be quite nasty. In reality the couple have become bored with each other. And such boredom very often ends up in divorce courts. This is the most unpleasant part of the whole scene. This is where words are said which can spell ruination for a lifetime.

Some psychiatrists advocate that married couples with their sexual troubles about to be taken to the divorce courts should hold off a bit and investigate the group sex participations. Group sex and the swinger groups are no longer hidden behind locked doors. They have come out in the open with what they want to do and what they expect of others.

Many women undoubtedly do operate on the conviction that love is just a word, but it seems that most women, be they of radical or conservative opinion, need the love of one man for their mental and emotional well-being. The proliferation of marriage manuals, How-To-Do-It books, and highly technical treatises on sexual performance cannot satisfy this need. If anything, the mechanistic, materialistic approach to human sexuality is antithetical to strong emotional bonds. Can two people love each other if the obsession of their sex life is the number of orgasms they can achieve during a session in bed? The evidence suggests that the new liberated woman, for all her expertise in reaching the great climax as often as possible, is not satisfied.
